Do we make up our own mountains or emergencies? Caleb asked permission to take on a mountain with giants in it. He didn’t try to take it on until it was assigned to him. “And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron. And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Shebshai and Ahaiman and Talmai, the children of Anak. And he went up hence to the inhabitants of Debir; and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher.” (Joshua 15:13-15) The sons of Anak in the above scripture passage were giants. He conquered the mountain with God’s help after it was assigned to him. God allows us to face mountains and emergencies, but he never asks us to face any that we can’t handle with His help.
If we make up our own mountains or emergencies and then try to handle them in our own strength, we are setting ourselves up for trouble and probable failure. We become frustrated and are of little help to others. We are too busy being frustrated by ourselves.
When we take on the mountains with His help that He gives us to conquer, we find ourselves accomplishing things that are impossible for us to accomplish on our own. We experience the joy of success and the accomplishment of humanly impossible tasks. We grow in our Christian lives and experience great fellowship and partnership with God!
Let’s concentrate on the giants assigned to us by Him for us to defeat together.
