Galatians 4:4-6 says that Jesus came to save us and to adopt us into the family of God. Verse 6 says, “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your heart crying, Abba, Father.”

I have been told that “Abba” means” Daddy”. This was made clear to me in a special way when Ruth and I were in Israel. Our children had given us money to go to Israel. We never thought we would be able to go to Israel, but when our children found out we would like to go there, they saved up enough money for us to make the trip.

We were standing outside of a little settlement one evening as it was just beginning to get dark. It was a peaceful setting. A sweet child’s voice broke the silence of the evening, “Abba, Abba.” It wasn’t a frantic call but a confident call, a girl calling for her Daddy.

It is a lovely gift and a desire of God that we have such a close family relationship with Him that we can call Him Daddy.
